Game Review

Home this week to the Charlbury Social Club, bit of a shame because we look forward to playing up there because of the porn they show on the TV whilst you are playing, well now Isay porn when it is actually Flaunt TV music channel which is available for free on Sky, not actually real porn( so Andy tells me) but I guess it comes close. On to the game, we are a player down tonight due to Chris "Kangaroo" Kibbey going on his hols with the lovely Clare, hope you guys are enjoying yourselves and if you are reading this then what the hell are you doing in an internet cafe in Spain, put the mouse down and get back to the beach. Clintos "The Greek" Chivers on first in the singles, He actually played well for the first time this season and barring a slight problem on the double in the final leg was pretty much faultless and won 2-0. Next up for the CODS was Cliff "The Swaying Mantis" Southam, and boy did he live up to his name tonight, He swayed to the left, he swayed to the right, he leaned forward, he leaned back, in fact at no point during his unbelieveable 2-1 win did he remain still on the oche for even a moment, "Is that there?" rang around the bar at least 15 times but at the end of the day a win is a win and well done. Third on for the CODS was Colin "All the gear - No idea" Bird, No Idea tried his hardest and hit a few good shots but was soundly beaten by the Charlbury man 2-0. Third on for the CODS was Graham "The Reaper" Woodwar, this was a very closely fought game, The Reaper won the first leg, had darts to win the second leg but the young Charlbury lad played well and stole it. Third leg and the Charlbury kid kicks off straight away and fires in a good score, The reaper cannot hit the starting double and the lad is on double 5 before The Reaper scores, however as The Reaper hits a few 85s the lad still continues to miss and to the astonishment of everyone The Reaper comes back and wins the game 2-1, unlucky for the kid as he played well but as I said earlier, a win is a win. Fourth on is yours truly, off first time and some good scoring and finishing saw me win 2-0, the lad from the Social club struggled to start on the double and never really got started. Last on for the CODS was The Dirty Hoare against Simon from the Social Club. A close first leg with The Hoare having darts to take it but it was won by the Charlbury man. second leg and The Hoare gets straight off and scores heavily, he gets to the double first and makes no mistake, 1-1 and the last leg they won the toss (again) and Simon started, he gets off straight away but so does the Hoare, with some good scoring The Hoare overtakes the Charlbury man and makes no mistake on the double for a 2-1 win. With the match now secured at 5-1 we  now turn our attention to the pairs, First up is The Greek and The Mantis, both guys swayed and pointed their way through the game for a 2-1 win. second on in the pairs was the Reaper and our trump card, Jabber. The two CODS played well and secured an easy 2-0 win over their opponents. Last on in the pairs was me and The Hoare, we had a hard battle against the Charlbury lads but just prevailed in the deciding leg for a 2-1 victory and an overall victory of 8-1 for the CODS. The score line was really flattering to us, yes we should have won but maybe a 5-4 or 6-3 would have been a fairer result, still these things happen. Quick mention tonight for Lottie who supported us along with Jo & Matty, Ian, Nick Wilsden and jonesey. Good game lads well played all and after the game myself and Andy stayed with Colin and worked on his game a little with him, with his new style and new darts set up he was throwing his darts straighter and more true and I think it is only a matter of time before all his hard work kicks in and he wins his first singles. The lad has put a lot of work and effort into his game and deserves a break.
